Breast and Colorectal Cancer Screenings

MetaStar is working with a selected group of physician practices throughout the state that use electronic health records (EHRs) to improve mammography and colorectal cancer (CRC) screening rates. We will assist the participating practices in implementing care management processes that focus on these diseases.
We will educate each participating practice on using EHR capabilities and quality improvement methodologies to improve rates of screenings. Each participating practice will use its certified EHR to report breast cancer and CRC screening data to the CMS Clinical Data Warehouse.
Interventions that support health information technology (HIT) have the potential to improve screening rates through timely notification of providers and patients when a mammogram or CRC screening should be scheduled. |
